8:32pm: Party!!!!
An amendment to my previous post:
There will be Margaritas and various other mixed drinks at the party, but for those of you that are into the brewed kind of "recreational" beverage you will need to bring your own. The "official" start of the party is 9:00pm, but if you are going to support Jenny the Bee's movie Planes on a Snake, we will expect and endorse your late arrival.

9:28pm: long time
Wow it's been a long time since I looked at this thing. This semester was kind of rough, which isn't really abnormal. I managed to come out with minimal damage to myself or my GPA. This may seem a bit odd, but Christmas break has been a little bit of a wake up call, if you can call it that. 5 people 3 rather close 2 I just kinda knew about, have died in the last 2 weeks rather suddenly. Say an extra hello to those who are special, the last two weeks have made me realize all this can be gone in a second without warning. So here is my hello and I hope everyone out there is doing well. Oh, and to those of you who knew my dog Ted, we had to put him down today, he was bleeding internally and had heart failure. I hope you all are haveing a safe and good start of the new year!

8:11am: The start of a new year...
Well, summer is over, school has begun...I am not sure if I can be happy about that or not. I really enjoy classes (except chem lab of course), but I am going to miss being in the field everyday in the mornings. This summer was amazing. I got see some of the coolest things, and go places I didn't even know existed in Arizona. I learned neat stuff like soil really does respirate, and how to measure a plant in under 30 seconds (that includes counting leaves). This computer in slow so I am going to end the post here. Till next time.

5:49pm: random mutterings
Hum, its kind of been awhile since I updated this. Life is well. I have been spending a lot of time with friends, and at work. I have to work every day now because caterpillars don't have any concept of weekend, they grow no matter what. So, I have to go in and measure and weigh them on the weekends. It really isnt all that bad, its quiet and pleasent around the lab on the weekends, kind of relaxing. It just means I can't go anywhere on the weekends... which could be considered a good thing. A certain individual has been causing raucous where there is no need for raucous. I suppose that is the way she likes life though. My job is to cause her to assume nothing is wrong. Thankfully that is the way it is right now, and the way it is going to stay for as long as possible. I just don't understand why she has to take credit away or degrade everything I have done. I suppose it is time to let go of this and move on considering she is not worth my time right now. Tomorrow night will be an exciting night of blacklighting for moths out at the Santa Rita mountians. It is so pretty out there at night. It even gets cold, which is a miracle since it is a desert. I love going out there, this is the best job in the world next to working in the rain forest of course. As a final note, when playing risk dont choose the army with headless horsemen.

9:48pm: a week gone by
Monday is over, which means I have been in the working class for a week now. I am happy to report that I am having a blast. Everyone in the lab is so much fun to be around and talk to. We all carry on conversations about Harry Potter or other pointless subjects while we work. You would think going out in 100 degree heat to measure plants would be terrible but the time goes by so fast I don't even notice it. It almost feels wrong to have so much fun at your job. After all it IS supposed to be work, and work is automatically assumed to have a negative connotation. So when your work is actually fun, it almost feels like cheating. Now, I'm definatly not complaining. I am so happy I found some thing that I love to do, and I get paid for it. Here is to the rest of the summer being as much fun.

5:32pm: first day of work
The first day is over. I find yet again that stressing the night before is definatly not worth it. Everyone was really nice, and explained how to do everything extremely clearly. The actual work was actually fun. We were out in the field for three hours and I hardly knew time had passed. The site is absoultly gorgeous. As the wind blows through and all the grass almost shimmers in the sunlight. The moutians surrounding the site are beautiful. There are pines on the top of them fading in to desert landscape. Besides the gorgeous work site the people involved in the project are all awesome and fun to be around. We all hadn't known eachother but 5 minutes and the car was never silent on the forty minute drive there or back. As if that wasn't good enought Judie (one of the professors) promised me that I could be on the night black light team, which I have always wanted to do since I was very small. I am so excited, this is an awesome job. How did I get so lucky. Plus, I don't have to be in until 10:00am tomorrow. So life is grand :)

4:49pm: yes, I finally caved in....
I decided it was time. Now, I can't tell you if that decisions was made on the account that I am bored out of my mind, or if I finally decided that I would share my life with the world... or at least the portion of the world that give a rat's ass.
Well I start my first job tomorrow. I will be working with bugs in the Santa Rita mountains under the direction of Dr. Bronstien, an ecology professor at the University of Arizona. Why can't my life ever be normal? Most people work in the restaurant industry or retail for their first job, but me, of course not. I will be marking and netting bugs out in the middle of the Sonoran desert. When my brother first found out I got the job he said "why did it have to be bugs?", and to tell the truth, I don't know... it just kind of...happened. I have heard that question many times in my life, from my mother "why did you have to pick climbing as a sport?", from my father "why did you have to pick showing dogs as a hobby?". To this day I still don't have an answer, the activities kind of just picked me, rather than the reverse. Well, on with life as normal. I leave you with a quote:
"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
